The Vacated Works describes Teresa Grimaldi’s retrospective solo works.
It embraces forms of video, installation, puppets and painting in a shared sense of absence and Teresa has engaged here with a narrative of nostalgia and the uncanny, or ‘unhomely’ using the puppet as emblem.
Included in the exhibition is the documentation and traces of a sited recreation of “La Banane” (the Banana)- the now vacated cliff top ice cream kiosk that Teresa and her sister ran as children in the 1980’s.
The recreation happened for one day only on the original site.
Working closely with themes around the exhibition Teresa collaborated with students at St George’s School.
